Iyengar yoga begins with physical awareness. You will practise postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama) and relaxation (savasana) techniques. These practices have evolved over the centuries to exercise every system of the body.
There is precise and careful attention to physical alignment as the postures begin to develop strength, stamina and flexibility. Yoga practice seeks a balanced body, but also a balanced mind, as yoga involves not only only the physiological, but also the psychological as
pects of our being.
Individual attention is given to each student and teaching emphasises gradual progress, with each student working to his or her own capacity.
People of all ages, states of health and of any creed can follow yoga’s simple, practical physical and mental disciplines.
